Atomic Energy Act

The Atomic Energy Act – AEA – made the Atomic Energy Commission – AEC – to utilize atomic energy for peaceful purposes with security and public health and safety the main factor. Council abolished the AEC in 1970 and the EPA took over the responsibilities. Once the EPA took over they assigned RadNet to monitor Atomic Energy use. RadNet has three main purposes: to provide data for nuclear emergency response assessments, to maintain safe levels of radiation in the environment for analysis, and inform the public and officials of threats or accidents.

consumer protection

Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999

The act was signed by President Bill Clinton and allowed commercial banks, security firms, and insurance companies to consolidate as one unit. The Act removed part of the former Glass-Steagall Act that prohibited any firm from consolidating more than one sector of the banking, security, and insurance industries. One example is Citigroup, a corporation that included Citibank, Smith and Barney, Primerica, and Travelers.

employee protection

Fair Labor Standards Act

The FLSA was passed by the Congress in 1938 to set a minimum standard of living. The Act was passed so that anyone that had dealings with interstate commerce would be able to live without falling below the poverty line. At first there was a full-time work load of 44 hours a week with a pay of at least 25 cents an hour. Seven years later the max. work week of 40 hours and a minimum pay of 40 cents an hour. Today we have a full work week of 40 hours with a starting pay of $7.25 per hour.

Italy’s key strength has been in manufacturing products that require high quality and engineering. Manufacturing is about 25 % of GDP and about 90 % of Italy’s total merchandise exports. The Mafioso contributes 15.4% of the nation GDP. Most small or medium size companies sell high quality goods like clothing and kitchenware

the president of Italy is Giorgio Napolitano. Italy’s political system is like that of the USA as in a house senate and cabinet. In order to vote for the senate you have to be 25 years old. However voting for everything else is allowed at the age of 18. Italy has a prime minister named Silvio Berlusconi.

Italy exports about 32.7 billion dollars worth of merchandise to the United States a year and imports about 12.6 billion dollars worth of merchandise from the United States.
